The Area

New Lebanon is nestled on the edge of the Hudson River Valley between the Catskills and the Berkshires. There is plenty to do and see all within a short drive of Ferndale.

Dining

Blueberry Hill, New Lebanon, NY

4 minutes

The best local food. Really great breakfast, and weekend dinner service. Open 8am-4pm.

Marios, New Lebanon, NY

4 minutes

The closest ‘nice’ and ‘Italian’ restaurant. Weird experience, not that bad of food. Kind of a date night spot.

M&Ms, New Lebanon, NY

4 minutes

The local bar, but also amazing food. Screens for sports. Often have local bands or comedy shows. Try the wings. Always a local Chatham beer on tap.

Ben Gable Savories, Chatham, NY

18 minutes

Hands down favorite spot for coffee and brunch. Makes a great quiche.

Blue Plate, Chatham, NY

18 minutes

Decent ‘nice’ restaurant in Chatham. If it’s winter, ask to sit downstairs. Cozy.

Destino, Chatham, NY

19 minutes

Amazing Mexican restaurant (and the closest).

Six Depot, West Stockbridge, MA

17 minutes

Best coffee around, everything roasted there, great food too. Especially for breakfast. Afterwards, hit the bookstore across the street.

Prairie Whale, Great Barrington, MA

33 minutes

Mark Firth’s upstate outpost. Basically an upstate Diner.

Art

Art Omi Sculpture Fields

20 minutes

Art Omi is a contemporary art center in Ghent, NY. They’ve got a gallery, but you really want to go for the Fields. Leave a few hours, take a hike. Afterwards, hit Bartlett House. Oh, we also got married here.

Mass MOCA

43 minutes

World-class museum, worth the trip.

The Clark

33 minutes

Incredible Museum, decently close.

Outdoor Activities

There is so much to do in the area, but here are a few of our favorites.

Jiminy Peak, Hancock, MA

15 minutes

Just across the border, a great ski slope only 15 minutes away.

Hancock Shaker Village, Hancock, MA

10 minutes

A beautifully restored Shaker village with self guided walking tours. The staff are knowledgable, friendly, and enjoyable. There are always demonstrations and workshops going on. A wonderful way to spend a Summer afternoon.

Hand Hollow Conservation Area, New Lebanon, NY

5 minutes

The 433-acre Hand Hollow Conservation Area just down the road in New Lebanon features woodlands, meadows, a lake, two ponds, streams, and wetlands. This variety of habitats makes it a prime location for spotting beavers, otters, black bear, bobcat, and wild turkey as you meander the 2.8 miles of trails or enjoy prime fishing access.
